Lien and Construction Law
With the economic downturn, many families are trying to cut corners by hiring an unlicensed or unqualified contractor. There are some pitfalls to avoid in these situations and Fernandez Florida Law wants you to be aware of them. For example: If you are building an addition and your construction company does not pay its workers or subcontractors, that worker or subcontractor – for example a plumbing company – can hold you liable for your construction company’s non-payment, and put a lien on your home even though you have paid your general contractor in full.

Bankruptcy is an option available to millions of Americans to eliminate unmanageable debts, or stop from losing your home to foreclosure. Two common types of bankruptcy are: Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Which type of bankruptcy is right for you? Let Fernandez Florida Law help you decide.

Know Your Property Rights
Has your Homeowners Association or Property Manager turned off your utilities because you’re behind on payments? Have they changed your locks with a device that denies you access to your home? Have they removed outside doors, locks, roof, walls, windows or your property? Without a lawful foreclosure by your Homeowners Association or an eviction by your landlord, you are protected from these actions.

Law Blog
WASHINGTON: A landmark $25 billion settlement with the nation's top mortgage lenders was hailed by government officials today as long-overdue relief for victims of foreclosure abuses. But consumer advocates countered that far too few people will benefit. The deal will reduce loans for only a fraction of those Americans who owe more than their homes are worth. It will also send checks to others who were improperly foreclosed upon. But the amounts are modest. It's unclear how much the deal will help struggling homeowners keep their homes or benefit those who have already lost theirs.
